Body image can be everything. When you feel lousy about your body, you will feel lousy about everything else in your life, too. The struggle is real! It can prevent you from moving forward with your health and fitness routine, it can stand in the way of achieving career success, and it can eat away at your relationships. These feelings can be incredibly lonely and isolating.

Loving yourself and feeling positive about your body is the key to unlocking everything you’ve ever dreamed possible in life. The BodyRock philosophy is built around promoting health, fitness, and body positivity. Our workouts are geared towards all levels, from beginner to advanced. We understand the challenges you may be facing and want to encourage, motivate, and support you on your way to looking and feeling better. But we also know that sometimes just crushing a workout just isn’t enough and that better, healthier you that you are working for can feel so far away. We know you can feel stuck and unable to see that beauty and value in where you are at this very moment. It doesn’t matter what has triggered that feeling, we want to help you get past it.

So, on days when you feel stifled by your own inward looking negativity, know that you aren’t alone. Know that it is possible to feel better. The following tips are small things, but they can make a BIG difference in the way you are feeling about yourself!

1. Begin your day with love (not technology)

How easy is it to wake up and check your email, or your latest social media, or your text messages? When you start your day jumping right into technology, you aren't giving yourself a chance to clear your mind and set your intentions for the day. Instead, remind yourself of your worthiness before getting out of bed to start your day on the right foot. You can even use affirmations to train your mind to become more positive.

2. Be patient with yourself

Sometimes we are the hardest on ourselves. If you've set goals, be patient and let yourself take the time to achieve them. Let go of urgency and fear. Trust in yourself, do good work, and you will see results.

3. Appreciate what your body does for you

Your body is an amazing machine, keeping you alive every day. It performs these complex tasks without you even noticing. Take a second and think about how complex just your cardiovascular system is. Your body is constantly regenerating parts of itself from your skin to your bones to keep you going. Be grateful for every little thing!

4. Throw out underwear that's old or doesn't fit

This might seem a little silly, but actually it's not! Think about how wonderful it feels to have well-fitting undergarments. Why would you want to feel any other way? Especially if your body is starting to change on your fitness journey, if you are wearing items that are too big or too small, you will constantly feel like you are not 'right'. Do yourself a favor and eliminate those options, starting from the first layer.

5. Get moving!

Exercise has a positive impact on your entire body and your mind. The act of moving makes you feel better and de-stress, you don't have to be doing it for weight loss goals. When you are feeling down on yourself, try something different from your usual fitness routine -- throw on your favorite song and have a wild dance party! Let your endorphins help you! We guarantee you'll have a smile on your face when you're done.

6. Treat yourself

Treating yourself to your favorite pampering, such as a massage, has multiple benefits -- not only will it help your body's natural systems, but it can also help you feel relaxed, calm, and serene. When you get down on yourself, do something nice for yourself and release those happy hormones.

Hey Linda,
Don’t give up on the idea of being active. However, the HIIT style of workout might not be the best option for you right now given your health condition because of the intensity and quick bursts of cardiovascular output. The key to being successful with your fitness journey is to find something that doesn’t aggravate your condition, is fun and feels beneficial. As an Occupational Therapist and a fitness Instructor, I would suggest that you choose an activity that maintains a more stable cardiovascular state. Maybe try walking with strength training. If you really enjoy the Bodyrock programs (and why wouldn’t we love it!!) than modify the exercises to your level, keep your head above your heart and the impact/jumping to your level of tolerance. Activities that have you changing from being down and up quickly will not be great for your condition. Best of luck with your journey…..

I am stuck I have a disease called Menieres. It affects my right ear, my balance (causes vertigo), nausea, ringing in the ears ( so loud that I can’t sleep sometimes it’s like a wild roaring noise ). and some degree of deafness. There is no cure. and unfortunately I was born with no hearing in the other ear so this is been a real difficult journey and just three weeks after joining bodyRock my Menieres got active and all my symptoms are back. when I work out hard pressure goes up in my upper body and in my head and I can’t do it. Stress or extreme heat or a rise in internal body pressure like blood pressure exacerbates all my symptoms I don’t know what to do just as I was getting going I get stopped dead in my tracks It just seems so unfair how can I work towards my best body when I can’t work out Help.
